Mehndi and Thanksgiving Day - Casual
WOMEN The Mehndi is the ceremony where the Bride and close female family members and friends receive henna treatments. While the Bride will receive elaborate henna designs on her hands and feet, guests that desire henna will have simple designs on their hands. Henna requires time to dry so wear comfortable clothing that will accommodate the henna.
MEN While the women are getting their hands and feet henna'd, the men will be free to do whatever they want! Rishi will be organizing a golf tournament and of course, the football (not futbol) games will be on the big screen. Bring tennis shoes, shorts and collared shirts if you plan to play golf.
There is no required dress code for Thanksgiving dinner since it will be a relaxed, casual day before the party begins!
Sangeet- Cocktail Attire
Sangeet is Sanskrit, which when translated into English means "as sung together." The Sangeet is a time for celebrating, singing, dancing and joking and is a perfect time for wedding guests to meet and get to know each other. Our Sangeet will take place on a boat, the SeaFair Miami, which will cruise around Biscayne Bay.
WOMEN The Sangeet involves a lot of dancing so make sure to wear your dancing shoes! Women typically prefer lehenga, ghagra cholis, salwar kameez and saris that are vibrant in color and design. Regardless of whether you wear Western, Indian, or Indo-Western clothing, feel free to wear bright colors and costume jewelry!
MEN Blazers, button-downs, or bandhgala jackets are the way to go! Bright colors and vibrant designs are encouraged for the men, too. Have fun with this night!
Ceremony- Formal Attire
WOMEN Generally wearing a pure white or black dress is avoided during the wedding. Wedding and wedding related events are colorful, loud, and fun. Salwar kameez, sari, or chenia choli can be found in silk, chiffon, crepe, cotton and in many styles. Pick what you love best! If you want to wear a western outfit, it is perfectly acceptable too. The Bridal party will be wearing lehenga cholis and saris. Anarkalis are also another option for a more conservative look. If you don't have a sari or lengha, don't worry. A jewel-tone dress with a shawl can mimic the festive look.
MEN Suits or kurta pajamas. Fabrics typrical for kurtas include silk, satin, brocade, and velvet. Kurtas can also be paired up with a variety of Indian scarves, called dupattas, which are specifically designed to fit in with men’s outfits and match Indian traditional clothing.
Reception- Formal Attire
WOMEN and MEN Western or Indian clothing. We're advising to change to something not worn at the ceremony earlier in the day!
